Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, New York City, 1969 (BW13)

During a performance Jim would sometimes stand next to Ray or Robby while they were taking their solos; and he’d watch them with intense concentration. You could almost feel the flow of energy linking them. Jim had heard what Ray was playing a hundred times before, and Ray had felt Jim at his side like this on countless occasions. Yet they were both so mesmerized by the music and the drama unfolding that the performance seemed to be fresh and new each and every time.
